Well the old abandoned Boy Scout camp (1920-1940) keeps on producing, and yesterday was a banner day. I've been hitting this camp regularly since 1998 and I get surprises everytime I head up there.

We got 2 to 3 inches of rain over the weekend which helped alot. Ground was moist and damp which produced alot of good targets.

OK, tied my silver record with 5 in one day, a Liberty Head (V-Nickel), 3 old Indians and 3 old Wheaties. I knew it was gonna be a good day when 3 old Indians came out of the same hole about 5 - 6 inches deep, and they are old ones, good shape too.

OK, enough blabbing, here is what I dug yesterday.......

1901 Barber Quarter
1899-O, 1912 Barber Dimes
1917, 1940 Mercury Dimes
1912 Liberty Head V-Nickel
1867, 1871, 1875 Indianhead Cents
1911, 1914, 1918 Wheat Cents

Thanks for looking..........Rich

Great hunt. What a great deal that the coins came out in such good shape.

Congratulations

Rich, you make our PA ancestas proud, dude! Keep it up! White's strikes again!

Wow...the soil was kind to your injuns. Usually the ones I find around here come out of the ground like corroded slugs.
Nice digs.

Nice finds. I always think in terms of numismatic value. This is from the 2007 black book not the 2008 red book so these values are probably a little low.

1901 barber quarter G-4 7.00
1899 barber dime G-4 2.50
1912 barber dime G-4 2.00
1940 mercury dime G-4 .50 (silver content alone is worth more)
1917 mercury dime G-4 1.50
1912 V nickel G-4 2.00 1912 D 3.00 1912 S (rare) 250.00 in G-4
1911 wheat cent G-4 .50
1914 wheat cent G-4 .50
1918 wheat cent G-4 .50
1867 Indian head cent G-4 35.00
1871 indian head cent G-4 60.00
1875 indian head cent G-4 15.00

Total numismatic value assuming G-4 condition on all coins is 127.00. Not a bad day at all in my book. Keep the good finds coming.

A real nice day! It's hard to quit when those kind of coins keep appearing!

Awesome digs

I live less than a half mile from a boyscout camp, when I was a scout I also camped there many times before moving to this area,It opened in the late 1800's and is still operating today.I did some research on it yesterday now that I've seen this post I'm wondering if they will allow me to detect around a bit even though it's still open.

O M G! Will you look at all those BARBERS!!! :o

Very impressive hunt! I like hunting those old Scout camps, the one I used to hunt produced alot of nice stuff.

Nice finds. Wish someone would send some of the rain our way. We have gotten a couple of showers but nothing that would soften the ground yet. Hard diggin. Congrats on your finds. HH
