A Banner for me!

For most, this isn’t a Banner find but for me it is!! This is what gets me going. A historic, Indigenous, metal arrow point! This is a time period that I am borderline obsessed with! I love it!! Measures 1.90”. Thanks for viewing.

I’d say those are more rare than flint points for sure. I’fe never seen or heard of one from my area. Our soil is acidic and I don’t think they would last long being so thin.

Yes, found in West Texas where it is dry.

It would be interesting to know when it was made actually. I can't recall another metal point ever being posted up from Texas.

I found the spearpoint on a beach in BC interior 55 yrs ago.
The kettle point just below my barn at the mill pond NE of Kingston Ontario.

I have heard they used the plundered wagon wheel rims to make them. Be interesting if the metallurgy of it could be traced back.

Barrel hoop and box straps were the main two items used for making metal points. They range between 1mm and 2mm thick. I have seen bronze and brass used as well. I saw one from New Mexico made from the handle of a silver fork or spoon.
