A very unexpected coin appeared on my VERY short hunt after work. I had 15 minutes so I chose a 20x20 foot area to grid. I decided to dig a very strange signal 12-32/36/39 and choppy. Honestly i thought it was an IHP. It was deep but as I dug the signal improved to 12-41. About 12" down out pops a Greenie. A quick wipe exposed the cleanest KG I've found.

1734

A Roosie and silver pendant and I was outta there. 15 minutes!

The last photo has a Half cent for size purposes, Vino.

Happy hunting
Steve

Heyyyy. Thanks man. I have found a dozen and a half KG's (1,2&3) and none are this nice. No cleaning necessary!

Thanks George. Just about as good of detail as one could hope for a 281 year old coin.

I've spent 3 hours at the same spot with nothing to show. It's a crapshoot.

Lol. I lightly cleaned the coin with a toothpick and stabilized it with acetone. Here is how it'll stayImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1435278750.925584.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1435278762.040531.webp

Man that coin is in amazing condition considering that it's 280 years old! :notworthy:

Congrats,
Dave

got a 1734 KG half- penny 2 years back-- check yours for the date, mine was the 4 over 3 version where the 4 is much higher above the 173. looks like yours is the same, will look at your photo close to verify. yours is indeed 4 over 3 after checking the pics. sweet find

Much appreciated Steve. It's a funny thing- the coppers I pulled out of there have either been great, or completely roached.

15 minutes well spent:icon_thumright: great to see a cleaner kg:occasion14: I have a spot like that where you grid it but you always find something:rocks:
