I located your website after checking on the situation regarding the Troy Shadow X5 and its good to find they are actively progressing with their products. I have two of these machines and use them mainly as a back up to a XP Gold Max Power, French made and very popular in the UK.
Now they produce of course their Deus2 machine which is wireless and very light. I'm considering offloading the Gold Max and one of the X5 and purchasing a Deus but this is $1950! At this price I need to be sure that the finds make the outlay worthwhile. However a lot of users appear to use the Deus in the Gold Max mode which does not seem to make sense to me. However due to this I decided to make some more tests between the X5 and the Gold Max. I kept it simple and used one item, a medieval silver half penny, both detectors were ground balanced correctly and a clear ( of iron etc) area used. Both detectors were giving a good signal at 5" in air. But the surprise came when, after 5", the X5 continued to give a broken signal but one I would dig up. The Gold Max gave a ferrous signal which I would not dig up after 5"! I'm going to do some more tests naturally but before I invest in a Deus it will have to better the X5.
Detecting differs somewhat in the UK with the type of finds that can be made etc but worth checking out your older detectors prior to spending a lot of money. Cheers.
