A big Mercury - April 3

Howdy:

I started hunting some new grounds today that have some neat history to them. The site dates from the late 40's to the 60's so it isn't really old but it did draw some crowds. I hunted for about two hours until the rain and wind drove me home. Finds include a '52 Wheatie, a neat Lion's club cufflink, a brown beer bottle, and lots of bottle caps. My hubbie thinks my best find of the day was an old Mercury hubcap. Underneath the hubcap was the Carling Black Label beer can. There is still a lot more ground to cover.

Great bunch of finds Anne I like the old Lions cuff link and that is a cool old hubcap, ya don't see Carlings Black Label around anymore.

Looks like a good spot to pummel for 50's and 60's silver....is that cufflink part gold? Haven't seen a beer bottle like that for a long time, looks to be late 60's. Black Label beer can looks to be early-mid 60's, I remember the old commercial "tweet-tweet Mabel, Black Label!", (hey, i'm old, but only my forties)....nice old Merc cap too! ffd

Nice finds. The cufflink is cool. I have a couple of Stroh's beer bottles like that with the labels still on them.

Haven't seen a beer bottle like that for a long time, looks to be late 60's. Thanks for the approximate date, Duane. We were debating if it was 60's or 70's but weren't sure since we weren't drinking beer in gradeschool.
