My drink of choice for 45 years.....

uta6ugy3.jpg

We will NOT go quietly into the night!

This bottle is only 12 year, still good but all my brother could afford!

Back about 6 years ago I stumbled into Chivas Regal 25, think I paid $225 for it. I liked Johnny Walker Blue Label, but 25 made it taste like ant urine....

Try a bottle of Templeton Rye TH,chill the bottle and its almost like drinking water:laughing9:

I have had it, lived in Carroll Iowa for a few months while working at local phone company...

25 is really good, but no way I can afford to keep it in stock......

When I was just 18 and in the air force I was sent to Okinawa in 1968 as part of a B-52 deployment for bombing missions over Nam.

My commanding officer, a full bird colonel, took me out drinking on our first night there, he told me he would buy all the drinks when ever we were out, but he only drank scotch and I would have to learn to drink scotch......

After about the 5th scotch it started tasting real good......A fifth of Chevis on the base was $2.10.....

Okinawa was also wide open then if you know what I mean..

The good ole days. When I turned 18 the drinking age was 18 just about to turn to 21.A bottle of JD went for under 10 bucks a 1/5.A sixpack was 2 bucks. Now a 1/5 of JD is almost 40 bucks and a sixpack almost 10 bucks(depending on the beer).

Been a he!! of a year 24/7 care giver for my wife has taken a toll But I have to say one of the best Christmas we've had in years. Family becomes so important in these times.Spent a wonderful time Scallops in a butter sauce 8oz steak wrapped all the trimmings and some cranberry wine wash. Spoiled the granddaughter with some great gifts. Boy they come a long way from my day. Anyway, all have a great Christmas and the best of health to all.

Hope that wasnt 10 cents a sixpack TH:laughing9:

I remember drinking at 18, 10 cent draft beer at the local bar certain nights, Schlitz for 50 cents a quart, Boones Farm... etc. I guess I was around 19 or 20 when Mass jacked the drinking age back up to 21 but those of us who were legal prior to that were grandfathered. RJC you & I must be close in age. I just hit 57 a couple months ago.

No it was per bottle except happy hour when it was .05 cents each... liquor was cheap on base.

Everything was cheap in town off base in Okinawa...

I turned 65 past Oct......Did 2 tours in Okinawa, fled on B-52s on bombing runs over Nam....

Think the cheapest I remember is 50 cent drafts at Salisbury beach Ma.

BC1969:

Your post brought back a beautiful memory. I grew up in Southern Ohio, and once every several winters we'd have rain that would turn to ice. Everything would be covered in ice, down to the smallest twig.

One year that happened, then it started to snow. I got up early to get a jump on shoveling out the sidewalk and driveway (Grandmother's house next door was next).

It was still dark, the snow was falling with the streetlight coming through and the dazzling lights of everything covered in ice. Just spectacularly beautiful. I stood there in the falling snow watching it all, because even as a teenager I knew I never wanted to forget that few minutes.

I never did.

Merry Christmas to all -

Merry Christmas to you and yours, brother. Stay safe and have a ball. We never know when we're gonna get the call, so enjoy every minute like it's your last.

Got a half a jar of apple pie moonshine we're gonna hit tomorrow when our friends are here. Good stuff. So RJC you must be just a little too young to remember the amusement park at Salisbury Beach when they still had the roller coaster & the ferris wheel ? I grew up at Hampton Beach until I was about 12 then moved to Western Mass. RJC check out the license plate on the far right.. Hampton Beach Fire Department.. Grandpa was the fire chief for many years.
