I've been roll hunting since 1974 and doing it at a particular branch since 1989. Since November, 2006, I've been getting a box of halves a week from them, with occasional success. Last week I noticed my initial on the box of halves. The teller usually puts my initial on the cent and dime boxes, but never the halves before. I jokingly asked if someone else was getting halves in my branch and she said yes! Another guy had come in last week and wanted a box. He's asked for halves before, but couldn't afford a whole box and she flatly refuses to open one and sell anyone part of it. She gave me his contact information and asked me to try to sell him mine because his story is that he needs them for a non-profit organization that he belongs to. They use halves for a fund raiser each month. He really only wanted $250. She doesn't want to deal with him for some reason (I don't know why and I didn't ask). I called him and he insisted that he get his own box because "If you can look through them, then I can to" as he put it. I know he has got my rejects before at other banks and he finally figured out where I get mine. The teller said that I could bring my box back and exchange it (poach his), but he told me on the phone that if I tried that (I didn't even mention it to him), he'd complain to the branch and regional managers.
I'm sure others in my area are getting halves at other banks, but I don't like it when someone is using mine. The other problem is that she has already told me that she doesn't have much room left in the coin vault and if people keep asking for coin to go through, she'll stop all of it. I'm afraid he could cause me to lose getting coin to go through. What would you do?
