The road in the picture is really that color. They sometimes use crushed volcanic cinders for gravel in this neck of the woods.

That is Diamond Falls. If you know where Salt Creek Falls is off of hwy. 58 near the Willamette pass, a trail leads from Salt Creek falls about a mile and half to Diamond falls. It's a nice walk in the summer.

I think it gets it's name from Diamond Peak about five miles away.
