A Day on the creeck

Russau and I got together to do some Dredging at my place here in Illinois on friday we actually planed for a 3 days of dredging but as mother natuer decided to have a fit and give us a thunder and lighting storm first thing Sat morning and Sunday wasn't looking any better we called it and Russ went back home. As you would guess shortly after Russ was gone and on his way home the sun came out the temp went to 94F with a heat Index of 104F a good day to be in the creek. May be at some other date. But we did get some pics and vid of the day thanks to my wife. I will post Pics of the yeller stuff after I get it panned out. Work does some times get in the way.

Bill im in the same boat with the resizeing of the pictures. I was told to photoshop or irfardien the pictures and then pick the size you want. Im still in the process of doing it.

If you've got Microsoft Office on your computer, Microsoft
office Picture Manager is great for resizing and cropping pics,
but their other processing tools aren't all that good.

Photoshop is waaay too much work. I use Adobe Lightroom 3.6,
and there are newer Lightroom versions but they won't run on
my XP Home (which I'll keep til the computer croaks).

Most of the pics I shoot are in RAW format, and must be processed
before looking like much. After processing a few thousand pics
I got pretty good at it, but it's really not hard at all to get the basics
down.

Photoshop Elements is another decent program for processing,
but it is far more complicated than Lightroom.

Bill: Besides cropping to remove excess landscape, I adjusted
the exposure, sharpened the images and colors, then added a bit
of add'l contrast. Also used a brush to darken some of the areas
that were blown-out by the brightness. All of that and it probably
only took about 2 min. per pic.

When you're in the Sun and taking a image of someone in the
shadows, try using your hand to shade the lens, like a sun shield,
and be sure you focus on the subject. Without shading the lens
from the Sun, the camera chooses a very fast "shutter" speed
and the darker background (where you're subject is) comes out
almost black.

Most compac digital cameras and phones don't even have a shutter,
but they're programed to make a "shutter" sound as you snap the pic.

Well I did get the con's paned out friday night when I got in took till 1:30 am sat morning but I got it done. here's what Russ and I got out of the creek it's not much but it more then I did last year. Still need to get a scale.

Bill I just saw this post. don't buy a scale ! I have several and ill give you one for free next time I come up your way plus I have somemore items ill be giving you that should go with the dredge that I forgot to bring!!!
