A dumb thought?

I don't hard rock (too old) but a dumb thought popped into my head. All of these tunnels that have drilled through mountains with those TBMs I wonder if they ever thought of running their muck for valueables. When you think about say the Gothard Tunnel under the alps that's a lot of rock.

usually the people that do this plus make cuts for new roads have a geologist that looks at every bit of rock they drill/blast through to check for its ability to hold and be stable enough to do as they have intended it todo! and yep they know what is valuable ore!
