What is the story on them? Bump

Wow Quito. You have been pulling out some eye candy. I would just pull one at a time out and make it last. The workmanship is first class. Are those all personal finds? Congrats if they are.

Now that! Is a frame of points!!!

Nice Missouri artifacts. Quite the display of sedalias, agate basins and I'm loving those 3 graham caves on the first photo.........GTP

Those are mostly Missouri and Illinois pieces. I buy stuff like that, because I can only find little stuff like this. These are from one site I hunt.

Wonderful pieces Quito. What's the story on the first 3? They definitely are not Graham Cave (as suggested), the punch notching is very peculiar about them. They remind me of a Howard County form with concave base.

Very nice finds, you're fortunate to be able to hunt where you do.

Good eye! Two of them are papered as Kessel, the outside 2. I believe they are related to Howard Co, and Hickory Ridge type if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the kinds words!!!..........Joel

Thanks for giving more info on them, rock

Was the first one papered? Was it a graham cave? They all have the look of graham cave and kessel doesn't fit in my opinion. Howard county points is what I would call the outer two and I'm still not convinced on it. The first one is definitely a graham cave and the other two are are related to it. Who papered the kessels?

First one papered as a Kessel. Dwayne Rodgers and Stacy Sievers both papered it as Kessel. I sent a paper that Perino did on Howard Co. and Kessel to Dwayne when I sent the artifact. So he formed his opinion of the type based on Perino's paper. I will find the paper and copy, and post it later. ( he also said that if the notches would have been the same, it would have been the nicest piece of flint he had seen. no kidding) I got the thing from Sievers, who got it from JC floming, and he called it Kessel too. I also drug it around with me at C-ville a few years ago, and was told by a major player that it was the largest Kessel he had ever seen, and probably the biggest one out there. BUT, opinions are like noses, everyone has one and they are usually different. The way I took Perino's paper, I'd say most have howard county and kessel reversed.
The photo below (burlington piece) shows an excellent example of what Perino drew for the Kessel, and the other piece I bought off e-bay from the rocketflyer, and he had it listed as Kessel. Kessel is a lanceolate, and the sides curve toward the base in most examples if I remember correctly, while Howard county is straight sided.
