Hey Rat,

We've been needing that rain. I'm glad it payed off for you.

BTW...sorry I dropped out of the chat the other night...the bad weather was stuffing up my internet connection until it finally went kerpolp. I wanted to know how your dig went on Friday. :)

Nice points. We get out and find some 100 year old coins that stir our imaginations but when I find an arrow/spear point I think about how I am the first person to touch that in hundreds or maybe thousands of years and wow, what a rush! I'm a history nut anyway. :)

Property is located on a river, one area was a garden spot that has produced Indian artifacts for over125 yrs. The other area (cow pasture) was just discovered to have artifacts. We subsoiled lightly waited on a rain, subsoiling brings them to the top & the rains washes away the dirt. Too heavy of a rain will cover them more, a light rain will expose them better. Walking very slowly, eyeball the ground before each step, & keep those eyes on the ground at all times. Immediately after the rain the artifacts seem to glisten, but you need to walk & look so your shadow does not interfere.
Hopefully, others will explain how they look for artifacts.

RiverRat,

Nice arrowheads! I used to be an avid indian relic hunter also, back when I was a kid.

Some where in the last 25 yrs my collection was lost, probably at my parent's house in the attic.

Terrific flint. From the Seminoles? you're in S.Fl aren't you?

Way to go, River. I thought you were posting some finds from your new detector, but these are even better. Gorgeous colors....in my area they're just black and grey flint.

Congratulations!
