Went to one of my new local spots today for 3hrs, found a nice 1831 large cent, a nice brass buckle and an odd metal container with the inscription "metropolitan accident assn." -chicago- when i openned it, it had some kind of black carbon mixed with fibers in it

Nice prolab like the badge large cents are always nice

its a huge site, it must have had about 5 structures there, today i found where the barn was, behind the barn is about 50 apple trees. I think once the spring season rolls around i can detect more freely without all the shrubs, but i still have about 40 apple trees to search around. Its off a road that suposedly had some of the earliest settlements of the county.

aprox 1790s` so yeah, i can only hope.

Sounds like same spot we are hunting! Good luck still like that new coil?

my 10.5? oh ive had that for a good 4yrs now, i need a new 8" stock tho, battling sticker bushes did the wire in. im down to my shooter coil and my 10.5

Cool finds, I have been wanting to do some old orchards around me.

I have no idea, is that something you would put a cigar in?

Awesome stuff right there. :hello:

The small box is interesting. Maybe a small thing of shoe polish or something like that. The company logo could be from an insurance company that gave them out to agents to give to clients. That all is just total SWAG though... (Scientific Wild-A**ed Guess)

That's what I was thinking. (Shoe Polish)

Oh, by the way, Cool Finds! :icon_thumleft:

Ok, shoe polish makes scents, it was a black cruddy substance i cleaned out of it, thanks a bunch guys. ... next time i hit that site will be with my shooter coil, i was getting so many "high-coin" signals mixed in with the iron but couldnt lock on to any of them with my 10.5 coil, a month or so ago i found a WWII button there. thats quite a span of years from 1831 LC to a WWII button.
