I recently got a new XP Deus. I've been going back to a lot of the older sites I've been to trying to learn the machine and see if I can pick up anything I might have missed in prior hunts.

First day out at a mid-1800s house I found a few flat buttons and also a large copper that is completely worn...to the point where I can't see a single detail (not pictured).

The finds shown here were from 2 sites, a late 1700s house and a field where there used to be a blockhouse/courthouse/jail in the late 1700s.

Got a few goodies. The first is this tag of sorts that says No. 15. It looks old to me, but I'm not sure what it is from. Found the remnants of an old pocketknife at the same place.

At the blockhouse site, I found this small 2-piece button, what I think is a lipstick tube (?) and also the 1798 large cent, in decent condition. I've been over the spot where i pulled this coin numerous times. It wasn't that deep, so I just must have missed it with my other machines.

This makes 1798 LC number 4 for me!

Thanks for looking

Wow! Beautiful LC! :notworthy:

That LC is sweet. Nice strong detail on that one

Lovely cent! :notworthy: Super that you've dug 4 of same year. Some lipstick tubes used to look like that item. Andi

Congrats on the 1798, and it is a scarce variety. http://www.largecents.net/collection/coinpics/s175.jpg
1798 S-175 Die Cud at "U" This variety has a neat die cud at the letter "U" in UNITED on the reverse, plus it's a scarce variety (R3). The reverse cud is all that's needed to positively attribute this coin as a 1798 S-175. It also has a noticeable crack from the bottom right of "A" in STATES to the top left leaf.

Very nice LC. Welcome to the 1700s club. (Of which I'm not a member), yet.
Congrats on the Deus.

Don, once again, thanks for the ID. I figured it'd be fairly easy with that blob on the back.

Awesome finds! Congrats! Great detail on the LC.

Love that LC. I do not believe that one item is a lipstick tube, but rather a cap to something like maybe a thermometer case.

That's a sweet LC. Congrats on the rare variety and nice work Don on the ID.

That is one nice large cent. Just great when they come out of the ground like that.

That large cent is GORGEOUS. I long to be a member of the 1700s club and can only hope to find a coin as nice as yours. Great save there!

Thank you! Keep working...those 1700s coins will come. It took me a few years but since finding my first I've found around 10 1700s coins.

Great looking copper! Love the detail! :notworthy:

Great finds- that LC is in fantastic condition- Congrats!!
