I headed out to a new site yesterday (new for me, that is) that Ant told me about, which, judging from the dates on the 8 wheats I found (1945-1957), still should hold plenty of silver left. Met a couple other detectorists already out there and chatted with them for a few minutes before I left. I only spent about three hours there but do plan on going back when I get the chance.
I haven't really hunted for nickels with my Silver uMax yet so I figured I had better get some practice in since I knew there also had to be buffs at this site. So I set my disc down below 5 and left it there all day, and came away with a couple 1964 nickels and about 6 more clad nickels, but no buffs. I also got a 1953 Canadian penny and quite a few live bullets like the one pictured!
I also found a really neat Jeep toy car. Thought it was my second Tootsietoy but it didn't have the trademark name underneath. Would you believe that when I found it I actually said to myself, "Oh cool! Another Tootsietoy!" Never thought I'd get excited over these things, hehe.
I was supposed to meet Ant out there but I guess something more important must have come up for him. Oh well, maybe next time Ant!
Stock coil used and depth on targets averaged about 6" in moist soil. Next time I'm breaking out my 10x12!

I do remember him stating that his silver finds were incidental to hunting for the gold, so that's my metal detecting conjecture.

Have a Bandido umax 2. I set mine at 1 1/2 and dig everything
