Been awhile since my last post , been doing alot of research on some new area'a which is tough when its just land and no houses exspecially when you have to track down owners who turn out to be multi millionares ,but atleast they are local to me , still working on the approach on these places ...! Anyway ive been hiting a few old spots lately hoping the moist ground might bring out a few more scores ,but not much luck in that till the ground is turned again .. So since DHD was tied up this weekend I headed back to a spot we got permission to hit about a month ago ,its a big place a little over 350 acres but definetly a civil war site without question , its one of those place you walk aimlessly for awhile and stumble upon a good spot or you just keep walking till you do ! So after about 30 minutes I hit the high ground and started finding some .57 cals so after that quickly stopped I headed down to lower ground near the creek , after about 30 more minutes I got back into the lead ,stopping to take a drink of my water I learned a valuable lesson never put your water bottle in your finds bag as I went to take a sip I notice my water had turned on me ,ha ha my bag flooded with water mixed up and went back into the bottle as I must have hit a nail in my bag .... I had to laugh !!!!!!!!!!!! About that time I hit a solid signal but you could tell it was deep I love my new program on my xlt ... so started diggin and got down to 10 inch nothing , 12 inches nothing ,14 nothing ,16 inches nothing ,18 ,19 and blam found it ,I was in high hopes it was complete but it was the bottom 2 inches of a parrot shell ,also found the nose cone as well a few feet away . Found a few more bullets and my first musket ball in a creek as well and by this time it was getting dark so I called it a day ... ! Thanks for looking and hopefull I will be getting permission soon at a few new spots with some good potential !
