Earlier this week I bought a WOT coil for my EXP II and have been trying to learn how to use it. So for the last couple of MD outings I've been going to a huge athletic field that has been pounded through the years by a lot of folks and by me since I got back into the hobby.
Yesterday I found a silver rosie (unusual in my town) and the usual clad. Hunted this morning for only an hour because of the heat - usual clad and 1 wheatie. Later this afternoon the monsoon clouds moved in and back I went. 15 minutes into the hunt I got a weak, broken sound with the numbers jumping all over the place (I hunt in digital) - depth was about half way on the scale - but I thought I could hear silver in there. Dug a plug and re-scanned - still there. Dug another plug, re-scanned - no sound. Got on one knee and picked up the second plug and could see a coin absolutely vertical at the very bottom of the 6 inch plug. An on-edge coin. Brushed it off and saw it was a silver rosie. Nice. Stood, re-scanned the hole, nothing. Scanned the first plug and got the high pitch Explorer sound of silver. Got back down and pulled another rosie from that plug. Got back up and scanned both plugs and the hole - nothing. Carefully replaced the plugs and then thought I'd see if there were more close by. Scanned about 6 inches ahead of the now filled hole - got another great sound. Looked down next to the WOT and I could see just the edge of a coin embedded in a small clod. Yup, another rosie. Must have flipped out of one of the plugs. Three silvers in the same hole. I was one happy dirt digger as I have never even found two in the same hole.
I really like this WOT coil. Pinpoints better than the stock coil and, I think, enhances the EXP audio response to targets. Two of these rosies were at a measured 6 inches.
Thanks for looking - -
