Met up with Jeff of PA and DJM of PA this morning at a local park that has been pretty kind to us this summer. I had a Merc here earlier this week and started the day working the same sloped area I hit it on. The second slope didn't fail as it gave me the 1942 Mercury dime I got today. Most of the rest of the hunt turned up nothing but clad, $1.52 in clad to be exact. DJM headed home and Jeff and I were about ready to call it a day when I got a deep 11-47 signal on the Etrac. I was hoping for silver Washington and was pleasantly surprised to see the 1926 SLQ come out of the hole!

Two silvers make any hunt a good day!!

nice hunt!! MR TUFF

That little derringer is made by the Nichols toy company and was manufactured in Jacksonville or Houston, TX. (I believe the derringers were from Houston. They date back to the '50's.

Wow, awesome find on the quarter Dave :icon_thumright:
Just when I was ready to write that place off, you go and pull that out!!

Thanks for the looks guys!

Jeff, that derringer looks a lot more "whole" in the pic than it did when you were pulling it out one piece at a time...LOL!!

Rich, I agree I really enjoy finding the SLQ!! I started the year with zero SLQ and zero Barber quarters in my metal detecting collection and thus far this year I have been lucky enough to find three of each!!

Den, I have not even considered this park near done yet! Did you get the text I sent you with the ring and the SLQ? I'm still in process of trying to clean the ring. It hit a solid 10-13 from both directions and I was thinking old nickel.....surprise....ring! Not sure of the composition of the metal but it has a little corrosion on it so I'm giving it repeat soakings in the hot peroxide.

HH!

Dave
