- Garrett AT Pro
It's been really warm here in the northeast lately, and with all the snow and ice disappearing I've been itching to get out with the detector. It almost looked like this weekend would be a bust, with so much going on, but thankfully I was able to get out for an hour and a half to a local spot that I've found some 19th century coins in previously. I thought that I might try my luck again- maybe try a different section of the area that I've been so lucky with. I didn't have too much until about 15 minutes prior to sunset (and my departure)... When I got a fantastic, strong, high tone, coming in at a very steady 93 on the AT Pro at about 6 inches. I had to dig it. I realized that there was a pretty good sized tree root about half way down, but when I got my pro pointer in there the target was definitely in reach. One handful of dirt later I looked down to see the reeded edge of a big coin- it wasn't garbage, as I had feared, but a half dollar! It was deep enough to be a good one, too... And as I gently swept the dirt from one side I saw a very detailed eagle with stars above it, and knew that I had my nicest Barber Half Dollar to date- a super detailed 1912! I also got a 1942 wheat penny in the 90 minutes that I was there. What a great ending to a busy weekend. I'm thinking that if I was able to find this one, there has to be some more oldies in that area... So I'll be back! Thanks for reading and best of luck!
