So last Wednesday I went to an old church site that i've had plenty of luck in the past at. The last few hunts have yielded very little but we've come up with a keeper every time. This time just happened to be our best yet! In about 3 hours we came out with a 1946 D Wheat Penny, a 1942 Merc, a trolley token from circa 1921 from the Sioux City Service Co., a 1913 D Wheat Penny, a 1909 Wheat Penny, a 1907 Indian, and finally my oldest coin to date! An 1883 Indian!!! I was so excited! We also found some other non coins that were very interesting. Some shotgun shells that date from the late 1800's to the early 1900's and what we think is a pocket watch gear pictured below but any help in id'ing it or the other items would be appreciated. The next stop was a local school that had recently gotten torn down due to damage from a tornado. We were able to find a 1909 Wheat Penny, a costume pendant that says "friends", and a 1906 Indian before calling it a day. I still need to clean up the coins a bit but was also wondering if anyone would have any tips on cleaning that wouldn't numismatically screw up the coins. Thanks for looking!
