A local bank is offering me $200.00 in Ikes. What would you do?

It it were me, I would ask to see them, then edge search them right in front of the teller... (discreetly of course). Pick out any silvers and don't take the rest... they are kinda hard to dump. That is, of course, assuming they aren't in rolls.

PS... I was joking about the quarters on that other post. If you read the previous posts on this forum, you'll find that most agree that halves produce the most silver. Unless you live in a place that is dismal for halves, like maybe Arizona... then probably dimes. Good luck. Be patient. The more volume/work you do, the better results you will have!

Buy them all and then search. Don't do it in front of the tellers. You can sell them for a slight premium on CL.

Thanks a lot for your ideas. I think I will aquire them. I was in a bank and the head teller brought them out. She was almost begging me to take them off her hands after I had asked for some half dollars. I think if I do, I may get "in" the bank and aquire a new ally. I will promise her tomorrow not to dump them at her bank as long as she can help me order coins. By the way, beware of these coin machines in banks and IKES. One that I tested with an IKE just swallowed it up! No credit at all. An if you shove too many half dollars at a time, the bag in the machine gets full quickly and may jam up the machine. Thanks a lot for your responses.

Never cherry pick silver in front of tellers. Just buy them, take 'em home, search, then dump.

I love getting Ikes. Can sell them for $1.25-1.50 easily. That's a decent profit when you get into the hundreds.

craigslist or feebay

$1.15-$1.25 is a more realistic range. More power to you if you found a $1.50 buyer.

I had a garage sale and laid out 10 on a towel and priced them at $2.00 each, sold all of them to people that wanted them to give to the grand kids!!

Craigslist. My average is $1.33. The key is to sell in smaller lots. Guys on this board complain about no one wanting their Ikes but it's because they're trying to dump 400 of them at a time. Keep it at 20-50. The smaller the number the higher the premium.

A lot of people seem to think Ike dollars are very rare. They buy them as gifts or because having a bag full of the things makes them feel like a pirate or something.

By the way, I wouldn't recommend eBay because of the fees, but a few sellers have sold hundred of rolls for over twice face. That's worth if if you have the time to devote to listing and shipping.

Buy them all and sell them on craigslist. I just sold 180 of them on Craigslist for $1.20 i was asking $1.25 each But it is up to you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will go with ebay and CL and see who takes a bite first.
