The latest Kaiser Health Tracking Poll, conducted October 17-23, finds that the public reported paying more attention this month to the political fights over the government shutdown and raising the debt ceiling than technical problems with the opening of the online federal health insurance exchange created by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). As the rollout of the law and website problems made headlines, most Americans give the federal government fair or poor ratings when it comes to implementing the law, while ratings of their own state governments are only slightly better. Despite all this, public opinion on the law holds steady in this month’s tracking poll (44 percent unfavorable versus 38 percent favorable). A majority continues to oppose defunding the ACA, and more want Congress to expand it or keep the law as is rather than repeal it.

Oldbookaroo,

Initially I believe the stats you've stated were true, for the reasons you stated, but now that the shutdown is over and more and more people who were satisfied with their private health plans, and really liked them, are recieving cancellation notices effective Jan 1 2014 from their insurance companies, and they are realizing that in order to replace those plans with even their own insurance companies with an "allowed" policy now, their cost will at least double and their deductables will at least double too, and the tide is rapidly changing against OBammycare. A recent poll I saw on both the main stream media and Fox news indicated that the majority now do not like the ACA and that does not even include those still getting health insurance via their employers, many of whom will lose that coverage too in the next coming months or by the end of 2014 for sure. Even the Obammy loving unions and their members are screaming about their dissatisfaction now, so how can your stats even be close to still being accurate at this point? Even some Dem politicians are not happy with its consequences on their constituents and are vocally stating that fact. I believe those stats are now past tense.

Do ya'll even know what they mean by defund, how do you fund something from a budget that does not exist, they want to borrow or take money from social security, medicare to make this plan happen, what kind of plan is it when everyone has to be on it , and pay through the wazoo, and it doesnt even pay for itself.

He who would give up liberty for the sake of security deserves neither liberty nor security - Benjamin Franklin

Unclebuck, I saw a poll somewhere on the mainstream media and Faux news that said everyone was very happy with the changes. Even the woman that didn't know what her $50.00 a month policy covered (one bandaid a month, with a $45.00 deductible for each occurence, if you're interested).

eggzachery when was the last time you needed medical care in a hospital that wasn't run by the VA? Any idea what the charge is for an appendectomy? A stent in your carotid artery? The price of a semi private room? Have you checked what the max out of pocket under the ACA is?

davest,

Dang, you must have been watching those mainstream news channels and Fox News at the same time Oldbookaroo was. I'm sure glad I was able to educate you too on those being old polls, so you don't go around making untrue statements.

Oh and I don't need to check my friend because as you say, I earned my medical care and treatment many moons ago. My lifetime deductible was put to me like this.. You sign a blank contract with the gov't for your life and sign a blank check for your life that might be cashed during your service, but IF you survive and don't get that check cashed during your service, and you come home, we'll give you medical coverage for life, with conditions. Why do you ask? You jealous? For what it's worth, that coverage also comes with a co-pay on all treatment and prescriptions, depending on what a vet earns after returning to civilian life while using the medical services. That is determined on a yearly basis too. See my friend, it isn't free like you incorrectly thought.

With a wife who was never in the service and does have private medical coverage, yes, I am very well aware of deductibles, co-pays, the cost of a semi private room and also how her costs under Obammy Care for a policy she doesn't want, or like, will skyrocket along with her deductible for crap in a policy she doesn't need or want in order for Obammy to give medical coverage to several million illegal aliens and millions of other folks who don't like/want to, and won't work.

Look at the upside with that example of the woman you mentioned to me. If she now decides under Obammy care to go get a vascectimy, she'll be set! LMBO!

Good post. Sounds like the OP wants to use whatever numbers fit his argument regardless of how out of date they are. Par for the course.

I know that my policy is going to be more than half my income each month. I know that my old policy only had a $2,000 deductible rather than $3,500 and cost my employer less than 1/2 of what it is going to cost me for the less effective policy ... unless of course, this 56 year old man needs pediatric care or decides to get pregnant.

Didn't have those riders on my policy because they were not created by delusional sphincters.

I'll wait to make my decision till I find out how it affects me.

Yea , I think Flash Gordon may be right( kidding jeff). If you ask the people that don't know anything about it they will agree with that. If you ask the BO supporters they will say they love the thing and want to be Obamas baby momma. If you ask the people that have been looking at the way this will affect the American way of life and the cost to the economy, you will get a thumbs down. I am sure some want to defund Ocare,, More only want to destroy Ocare.

Nope.

Dave44:

Many of those who say the oppose the Affordable Care Act have, at best, a highly twisted understanding of it. Look at the astonishing amount of mis- and dis-information out there (such as Faux News putting on air people who claim to have been hurt by it - but when the facts come out there is a very different story).

Most Americans want to have their children covered, want insurance even if they have pre-existing conditions, don't want their policies canceled simply because they filed a claim, and want to see the ever-rising costs slow down.

Good luck to all,

~The Old Bookaroo

do you realise Chadeaux that if the insurance costs more than 9% of your income you are exempt?

Chad:

"Par for the course?" Based on your previous posts - lies about Mr. Obama, wrong information about the Tesla Corp., etc. - you're not exactly up to par yourself.

The poll I posted is hardly out of date. But anyone interested can see the results for themselves.

Good luck to all,

~The Old Bookaroo

Not sure what part of "out of pockets" expenses some people are having trouble understanding.

If I signed up for Satan'scare silver plan my out of pocket expenses would be $12,700 a year. I would have to have little over $40,000 in health care expenses to reach my max out of pocket expenses of $12,700 at the 70/30 ratio they have set.

A small surgery and hospital stay of say $25,000 under satancare would cost me a min of $7,500 out of my pocket.... Under my current plan it would cost me $2,500.

If I bought it I would be paying for a plan I would actually get little to no benifit out of for $5000 a year. All I would be doing is subsidizing someone else's healthcare.

And the left wonders why we are not jumping up and down for joy to support their socialized medicine.........

My daughter called and freaked out Friday. They got their letter. The rates didn't increase much but the deductible went from $2,000 to $4000 per year. Her husband currently does not have a job. She admittedly voted for you-know-who in 2008. She said she is voting against ALL INCUMBENTS next time around. She is madder than a wet chicken. So much for the change and hope. If one third of the media reports of the shenanigans in this administration is true, come 2017 Mr. Obama could be spending some serious time in jail......

Anyone who believes those polls are crazy to begin with as they can give you any numbers they want and how are you to know any different. There have been polls saying 90% agree with this and I haven't found one person to agree with it, then you've always got those people who will sign a petition without even knowing what their signing for, so how do you count these people's votes in a poll as they most likely don't even know what their voting for in the poll. I can throw any number out there I want as well but it doesn't make it so.

Imagine how she would feel if it went from $2,500 to $12,700.....

It looks like one of the best parts of this wreck is that "if" you get sick it will seek to strip you of ALL wealth you may have accumulated through your hard work.. As the left says though,, You got nothin they take nothin.
