A miniature Holy Grail?

I found this miniature Holy Grail-shaped object today in the front yard of a house built in Texas in 1945. It is solid brass and it does NOT have a hole through the center. I thought it might be a kids' game piece but it seems too heavy for that. Any ideas?

I really don't know, but it looks like the base to an old cup & ball magic trick.

Game pieces are much larger these days, they call them Collection Plates now, passing around up to 6 at time, twice during Mass and then have a few folks at the exit to get you on the way out.

It looks similar but mine doesn't have the raised rim around the inside of the top to hold the lid on. Hmmmm?
