Very nicely done. I would have preferred a little narrative, but you're photos do speak volumes. Thanks for sharing the experience of your hunt.

Those of you who've read my past Digger's Diary posts will know I am usually quite longwinded. I just thought I'd post a quickie post for a change and let the pics do the talkin'. I'll go back to my longwinded self and bore y'all later. ;)

Hi lordmarcovan.
Nice pics,Do you live in one of the houses?
Thats a very nice siver brooch, The ground looks really sandy and easy to dig,
What are the trees called with the stuff hanging off them?

just curious.

I haven't looked at your profile but I assume by the pressence of the stuff hanging from the trees (I've always called it spanish moss although I don't know if that's what it really is), the palm trees, sandy soil, and the lack of snow, that you are somewhere in Florida. I think those trees are called "Oak trees" although they are not the "oak trees" that most of us think of when we say it. What are they called? "Live Oak" or some such thing. They get heart rot real bad and when they start to get really big they are dangerous to be under. Very, very heavy branches, and heart rot are a bad combo.

A lot of history burried in those squares. Especially those in the "Old Town"! Looks like those targets were pretty deep.

Is that Lincoln on the left a 1922? I can't quite tell if it's a 22 or a 23. If it's a 1922, wow, way to go.

Looks like the kind of area where 5 miutes in a police car would pull up .Whatcha think yer doin there boy?

Re: A minimalist "Digger's Diary" entry (pix only, no narrative)

I love that kind of dirt, it's usually a pretty easy dig and the stuff looks pretty in it when you find it.

Ah Georgia...I was close anyway.

Great pics...nicely done!

In response to a few questions: Yep, I'm in south Georgia. Golden Isles area, in the city of Brunswick. We are not very far north of the Florida border.

The trees are indeed Live Oaks (Quercus Virginiana).

The grey wispy stuff hanging from the trees is Spanish moss, though it is not really a moss. It's a distant relative of the... pineapple, believe it or not. (Don't ask me how they figgered that out, but I read it somewhere.)

The soil is sandy and nice to dig in.

Nope, I don't live in any of those houses. The brick building showed just before I dug the two Wheaties in the same hole is the old hospital, which operated from around 1906 to 1956.

Actually, the police frequently roll up on me when I am out detecting the sidewalks and medians and parks in Old Town. They stop, the car window rolls down, and they invariably say, "Findin' anything good?". They're actually pretty friendly for the most part and only chase me off when somebody calls them out on me. (And then only at night, since I am legal by day- I have a city permit).

The first Wheat cent in the photo is a 1923 and not a 1922, unfortunately.

I had to ask. Amazingly, I got a 1922-D in change at Lowes earlier in the week. I'll post pics in a few minutes.

Every picture tells a story.Nice job on the beautiful layout.Excellent digs!
I must admit I'm a bit jealous of the great weather you have there.Us northerners have to wait it out for a while yet.Best of luck and HH!

Re: A minimalist "Digger's Diary" entry (pix only, no narrative)

Very nice display of finds. I am jealous of the weather and great digging conditions you have right now. We are buried in snow and cold . Time to head south so I can dig.
