Found myself in an older part of town today and saw this old house that looked good:
a quick check with the dozer crew that was clearing the ajacent lot and found out this one was scheduled to be razed as well. Secured permission to check the grounds as long as I stayed out of the house as it was in danger of collapse. Didn't have much time so I made a quick scan to see if it was worth checking more closely this weekend.
Here are the results of the quickie hunt:
Wasn't too impressed with the finds, some door parts and a cruddy old compact. Where was all the coins and other goodies?
Got home and figured I would clean the compact to see if it had any markings on it. Once it was opened I was greeted with this slimey mess!
It seemed to be just full of mud. I realized that what I thought was all mud was infact, partially the remains of the powder puff. I peeled it back and was amazed to see this:
Tucked away in the compact was:
Two wheats 1939 and 1945.
One buffalo no date
One war nickle 1944 P
Two mercs 1936 D and 1942
I was not too excited to go back there at first, but I think it deserves another look now!
