A nice walk, Police helicopter and air ambulance

I went for a nice walk with Benson this lunchtime and when I got back I decided to take some photos in the garden. I had just started when the Police helicopter flew right over my house and circled around the church next door and started to descend. Thinking this just a little strange, I decided to investigate. I just got to the field where the helicopter had landed when the air ambulance flew over and landed right in front of me. It appears that someone was found in the hedgerow in a bad way but still alive, no other info yet. After all the action had finished I took Benson out for another walk and got some great shots of a couple of ducks coming into land on one of the ponds on the Common.When I got back I got in touch with one of the newspapers and they are publishing the photos of the incident in tomorrows paper .

You might be on to something there .
The settings were 1/1000 shutter speed, ISO 500, aperture f4.5 using the ef 70-300 lens.

The duck shots are simply "Beautiful" some of the best I ever seen.

Thanks sandcreek , Benson says thanks too .The saying Common land or "the common" really goes back to medieval times, when a parcel of land was put aside for locals to be able to graze their livestock. Nowadays, as you have suggested, it is more of an area of open ground for recreational use. Our Common is not manicured like a public park, but pretty much left to grow wild, so it's a great place to see wildlife.

Dude, your camera is awesome! The blades on the props of the helicopters are not even blurry...that is some fast shutter speed. Duck shots are really cool. Thanks for posting these.

I really like the duck shots. Usually the bird pics are taken from the front. The pics taken from the back of the birds makes them quite unique and interesting.

Thanks Colin , I heard this afternoon that the man recovered consciousness and is now out of danger, but it appears that it was an overdose.
The Cannon Power/Shot SX30 IS looks like a really good camera, they certainly pack enough stuff into them nowadays

PB the angle was pure luck, I was walking around a pond and the ducks decided to come in for a landing, they flew in front of me, from left to right and hit the water. I just pressed the button
