I'm thinking some kind of alignment pin maybe for locating hole centers or temporary assembly.

Maybe a vintage small brass loom bobbin. Just my guess. Good luck

I seem to remember a coat with a button shaped like that?

Is it solid or hollow?

Greetings Joe! I'm liking the fishing aspect too.

It’s hollow, I’m cleaning it right now, I’ll post the patent info as soon as can read it

I guess it is a double sided pen. When I was able to get the ends off, the schmooze inside was purplish and when I looked a the tips again under a magnifying glass I guess there could have been balls there but they are rusted to a point. The thing that bugs me is the hole on the side, wouldn’t the ink leak?? I dunno, weird

The only marking on it says “Designey, patent pending and maybe NYC but I can’t be sure on that.

The internal tubes are hollow and brass. Tommy, when I pulled it from the ground I thought pen and chucked it in my pouch and kept going but upon further review it didn’t seem like a pen, but now it does again. I’m pretty sure it is but I can’t find another on the Internet

I guess there could have been felt inside that has long rotted away

Well if it was a pen it would of had to have caps to cover the ball end, Im not convinced its a pen yet...

And the hole is just a vent. Possibly bycolor red/blue?
