Some years ago there were discussions about boosting the power to some PI units. I have a Whites Dual Field that takes 8 AA batteries at 1.5 volts each which totals 12 volts. I am looking at a Xeno 3.6 volt AA battery. If I replaced 1 AA battery in the battery pak with this 3.6 volt AA battery it would total 14.1 volts. The BIG question is would it work and give me more depth or would it get smoked?
Thanks,

As far as I know.. the voltage is regulated on the DF and the same with the excalibur. I tried both, I even tried 16.8 on the excalibur in hope of but the old sword model took it fairly well and survived. Hooked it up, let it run for a few hours.. came back in the room.. Ouch! I could smell the board, It was Hot and still running. Testing on the air test rig depth was no diff between 12.6 and 16.8.. sadly

Tried 14.8 on the DF with the same results using my 14.8 volt excalibur battery..

I do know the TDI coil is power driven for I've done a few 16.8 and 18 volt batteries for a few

Thanks OBN. It’s not worth smokin it. It’s unfortunate that whoever received all Whites data when they went out of business didn’t try to improve the Beach Hunter TDI . I would have purchased one
