Well, after numerous attempts at reaching the family of Micheal Stager, we have come to a road block of sorts. We have contacted several Stagers but none knew of this man. a couple of attempts were never answered, I can understand this with the onslaught of scammers out there. At this point we don't even know if there are any actual living descendants left. So we are looking into possible siblings of the man and their descendants as there may great nephews or nieces that would want this. if this fails, we will contact the local Veterans or American Legions office near Ft Hayes and see if they would want it. Several of the people we contacted thought that it was very awesome to be trying to return the tag, we even got an invite to metal detect at one's place if ever down south in Texas. There were several T Netters that wanted to be kept up with the process albeit a slow one at this point. Thanks for looking. DL

Good Luck... I know if it belonged to one of my ancestors I would want it... Hope you find it a home

Nice effort on your part DL,
Your heart is in the right place.

You may also request the Commanders of those Posts (American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars) to ask their members if they might remember this soldier and any information about his current location or that of his heirs.
Don....

I have been contacted by T Net member Gare, who has graciously said that he would attempt to help locate family since he resides in Ohio. So, time will tell and thanks all. Jerry

Great story. And....as usual.... mackaydon's inputs are priceless.

Great News is forth coming !!
