Musk is one smart man, it is his SpaceX that developed reusable rocket stages and rocket retrieval on landing pads and sea barges.

Musk’s stated primary goal with SpaceX is to make humanity multi-planetary, which requires drastically lower launch costs through rapid, full reusability.
