So my Dad and I stopped by Mcdonalds about 6:30 this morning to grab Breakfast before I went to Drivers ed, and my dad handed the cashier a $10 and got like $4.57 back in change. Well while I was waiting at the next window, I checked the change as always and take a look what I found.

A very nice 1946 D Wheat Cent. Nothing big, but it's my new lucky penny. I stuck it in a coin holder with my silver half I keep in my wallet. (I always keep some kind of silver in my wallet for barter).

Any good change finds lately?

That's a very good idea. I have packs of silver halves in my bug out bags.

Nice find, I still average about 2 weats in change or in a coin star machine a month. Check them all...

Bullets beat silver everytime.... Just sayin.... May want to rethink your "bug out bag"

yes I know, I have them in my sidearms. "just sayin"

I have more survival experience and training than you could possibly imagine, have been teaching it for years and have been published on the subject.

There are many things that can be used as barter items, ammunition, antibiotics and precious metals are just some.

is there some point to your statement, or do you just like being snarky from the relative anonymity of the internet? :icon_scratch:

Silver is good barter. However if things get that bad what ya going to do with silver. I often wondered where people would bug out to when the poop hit the fan.

(Sorry Mr. Shultz, we're getting off topic here)

I agree, silver isn't a very good item, per se. But the thing is, people have been so conditioned to have it, that now THINK it is, so they will be looking for it.
as far as precious metals to trade, silver common circulation US coins are the best bet. This is because they are easy for most people to identify.
Again, not the PERFECT barter item, but what is? You don't know what the next person will need, which is why you need to diversify and spread it around.
It's a good idea to diversify for barter and not put all of your eggs in one basket.

As far as "where", that is circumstantial. It depends on the situation. Weather, civil strife, epidemic... You may have to leave where you are.

You need TWO plans. One to "bug in" and one to "bug out" and assorted items to prepare you for both.

Again, sorry to the OP for going off of topic.
