Went to a new spot today courtesy of a friend and hunted for several hours in the cold and the snow. Got back in the truck to warm up a bit then decided to get out and hunt a bit more. I am REALLY glad I did!! First found this nice staff officer cuff button then about ten feet away dug something I never expected to dig. It's only the face but I will take it, a Louisiana confederate coat button! Last few months all I've gotten are bullets and an occasional eagle button. This made my day, week and month! Thanks for looking, happy hunting!

Thats an amazing button. Don't see too many of those. Excellent finds. Congrats!

Congrats on the Louisiana Coat Button.
I probably won't find that in Pennsylvania.

Congratulations on your spectacular buttons!

Congrats Diggervet, that is one sweet pelican.

Huge congrats on the buttons, I would love to find anything with a Louisiana Pelican on it!--JB

Love that Pelican button. Question... is that staff confederate also? I dug one like it and was not sure. Great saves the buttons are rotting fast it seems.
Nice hunt.

Interesting that you should ask that question. My friend who took me to the spot is very knowledgeable about cw relics and stated that confederates commonly used general service eagles, as well as staff officer buttons. So I guess its possible it could be a confederate button but nothing about its details confirms that

Congratulations on some great finds!
