I Packed the Cibola in a backpack and rode the mountain bike back into the woods along a river today. It was tough hunting as the new growth made it hard to swing in most places. I hunted a spot with some old rusty can lids and old shotgun casings.
I found this 1945 Walker half, 1943 war nickel, and 1911, 1934, 1940, 1945, and 1948 Wheaties. Good hunting to all.

Nice... That ain't a bad idea Merf... I should ride the bike to save on the high price of pusholine...

Merf - Sweet Finds. That's a great idea. My son and I are headed into the woods northeast of town on Saturday to do some detecting.

Still waitin on a walker, nice digs merf. We have TONS of bike trails here in WI, my buddy and I have discussed hittin' a few of 'em.

Merf, you are doing pretty good with that Tesoro! Very sweet finds. I haven't found a war nickel in a while.

The real question with the woods....how are the skeeters? That's what always seems to keep me from the woods.

great pics and finds merf ! congrats to you

1943 NICKEL LOOKS LIKE 1943 3 OVER A 2 ....CHECK Y.S. YOMANS RED BOOK OF US COINS...

Merf,
Very nice finds. Did you actually have to get off the bike, or did you scoop those up as you rode along? ;) Nice 1/2 dollar.
Congrats,
MM

Way to look in the out of the way places with potential, that's always a good idea.

Thanks to all.--- I have been walking back into those woods about a mile. It finally dawned on me to use the bike. It made the hunt so much easier.
Elvis fan---It is a 43 S.
Mirage--- No mesquitoes out yet. We will get them later in the summer.

Nice finds Merf,

Way to save on gas. I'd have to leave a day before if I was on a bike to get to my locations. It's nice to have a spot close to home.
