So the job i was on today overran a bit and i couldnt get out detecting....
So next best thing is rummage through the "not sure" box and see whats there...
Came across these things, nothing special but am wondering what they might be....
Cheers..

Pic 1 is well i dont know!!...its broken or been shredded by the plough many years ago or my silly theory is its a bit of a Grenade? :dontknow:
Its quite heavy for its size....

Pic 2 is interesting......i'm not sure if its just a coincidence of how the metal is formed but it looks like a tiny miniature soldier? (second pic shows the side view and the possibly tiny soldier or flukey metal arrangement)
Its lead and seeing as ive never knowingly found a bale seal could it be a bit of one of those?

Pic 3 again not sure....maybe somekind of door or lock decoration?
the shield shape looks like its been attached to the rusty metal at the back by a pin protruding from the shield (front) part

Its very hard for the Americans to ID your British finds because you have much more history than us. I dont know if what you found is shrapnel but here are some WWII pieces found on Florida beaches to compare. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,124889.0.html

#1 possibly anti-aircraft shrapnel?

#2, not a bale seal.

Shrapnel - the reddish color and grooves are a dead give away
a what's it
and a mount - looks fairly modern

Along Bethany Beach is loaded with this same shrapnel junk. They use ships to suck up the sand from miles offshore and pump it onto the beach. There was a lot of U boats shot at in that area from the shoreline and aircraft.

If there is shrapnel there, somebody was shooting at airplanes or practice drones.

No. 1 is definitely shrapnel. During the war there were chains of Anti-aircraft batteries along the east coast to combat the V1, called "Divers Units" . One of these units was placed one field over from my fave field and consequently I find loads of these bits and fusing rings.
