We went panning today down by the creek 2 miles from my house. Found NO gold! Zip, zilch, nada! Two guys were just leaving when we got there & they found nothing also. Bummer. Anyway, while we were there I heard some rustling in the brush. The creek is in a steep, narrow canyon. The word "bear" flashed thru my mind but then we haven't heard of any bears in the area for over a year. Well, I just saw on the highway patrol website that someone hit a bear right where we parked the car. 
Fortunately the little bear wasn't hurt badly but the road is closed because folks are out of their cars trying to catch the little guy. They might be REAL sorry if they do catch it! No word yet on where the mom is. LOL, I'm really glad I didn't bring any snacks with me today!
