Hunted a couple old farms today with Joel Shepard, first one I got a couple indians, 1898 and 1906, there was a 1909 wheat in the hole with the 06 indian. Not a lot of signals so we went looking for another place, found another old farm got permission and it was about the same....however I found one little eye popping token that made my WHOLE day, it is a 1864 Abraham Lincoln campaign token, oh yeah!!! and the condition is just amazing!!!!!!!!!! That is what the hobby is all about right there. Great day with Joel! Any idea on the button? the back is missing

Congrats on a what appears to be somewhat rare token find! I believe with it being a better quality brass is why it remained in such pristine condition, compare to let's say a 1864 Indian Head penny. Just did a quick search and found there are a couple varieties, one with initials under both Lincoln and Johnson and one with just initials under Johnson, both appear rare............:)

I do not see any initials on mine.....thank you for posting that info. I am glad to see it is somewhat rare, what does the R-* actually mean as for how many exist?

There's one on ebay just like it for $124.95

VERY, VERY mild soil in my area of Ohio, all coppers I dig look like that

Do I wish I could say that! Mine are all so bad, I have a hard time identifying them OR getting a date. Right now I have one that is either a draped bust or a Liberty cap LC.....who knows? Congrats. That token is an awesome find!

Wow! What a great piece of history!

It looks on eBay that they're asking in the range of $100+ for this variation!
