after 22 years I finally dug a Morgan Dollar ~ and it is a key date! 1880 CC

I cut out of work early today to go detecting in downtown Eugene Oregon. I dug a pile of clad and a few wheat cents, but I also dug my silver coin #3 for the year ~ a 1964 Rosie dime . . . . and silver coin #4 for the year a 1880-CC Morgan Dollar!!! This is the first Morgan dollar I have ever dug! And, it is also the first Carson City mint coin I have ever dug! WOOHOO ~ TREASURE!!!

WOW................ I think I would have fainted. A silver dollar, and a CC to boot. I'm still looking for one, although I did find a piece of a silver dollar. You can see the top of her head, and read ONE DOLLAR on the reverse. Congrats on a super find and now I hope you find a gold coin .

Oh, I did dig 2 gold coins in 2007 ~ a 1868 $10 gold piece, and a 1910 $10 gold piece! Now THAT was a rush!!!

I'm not even close on knowing coinage, but I'll throw this one out there I think this dollar is a 1880 CC Rev 78 type.

Back in the 80s I followed and old Stage coach line for one of the big cities to a smaller town....found a total of 9 morgans and other silver....never dug one since.....Good for you...I know the excitement
