After The Carnival " Biting Fly Day" Lots-O-Clad

Got chased out from where a carnival was held over the weekend.
The only problem with it was:
IT WAS BY BITING FLIES
At first it was ok in the flattened down grass.
Then I got to some taller grass where the music was at and boy did I wake them up.
15 minutes of biting I said. " I'm Outta Here "

What can one use to not have them bite you ?

Off and Cutters didn't help.

In all, I got $6.07 in clad

My totals for clad so far this year are around $125.00 +

I found the plastic flies in the grass where the real flies were biting me... ??? ???

$125 for the year? Way to go!!!

Re: After The Carnival " Biting Fly Day" Lots-O-Clad

I used Deep Woods Off and it didn't work all that well for me. Then a hunting buddy recommended Cutters. Cutters is no better, in my opinion. I still had the flies and mosquitoes all over me.

lol @ "biting fly day"

Bob, if that's the same place you took me to the other week, it's a gold mine of clad :D

And now that you found those "decoy" flies, you shouldn't have anymore bug problems

Take care bud,
Mark

wouldn't doubt it...

If they were then I sure wouldn't want to detect any parks that are really close to it...

I can't remember the brand name, but little orange pump spray bottle of 100% DEET in oil form, will last you about 3 1/2 years worth of use. I found mine at Dunham's Sporting Goods store. It is suggested on the bottle, that as soon as you get done for the day, that you take a shower, in other words, don't wear it to bed!... Not GE

Next time, you might try the old banana trick! If you eat a couple of bananas, you won't be bothered by mosquitoes, as they're a natural repellant to these pests...they can smell it through your pores, and they don't like it....don't know if this would work for biting flies though!

Larry, where did you hear that from? Everywhere I've read, it says to stay away from bananas...they are natural mosquito attractors.

Diet

Watch what you eat. If you eat certain foods like bananas, your body emits an odour that mosquitoes love. So although you may not want to be off bananas permanently, since they have numerous health benefits, you could stay off bananas for a few days if you are holidaying in a place that has a lot of mosquitoes.

Nice going, Bob, on all your clad. Sorry to hear about all your fly bites!!

Come to think of it, I ain't never seen a monkey with a 'skeeter bite......... ;D

Re: After The Carnival " Biting Fly Day" Lots-O-Clad

Captn, We were taught the banana thingy when I was in the Navy in the 70's, in boot camp. It was a class in adjusting to tropical conditions. I tried this on some hunts I did in the deep woods, and it seemed to work. But who knows, maybe the skeeters weren't biting??

Get some AVON Skin-So-Soft. Rub that on before you hunt and the bugs won't bite you. Give it a try. Smells better than off too.
