Afternoon hunt; Beer Token and an old cream cap

Since I didn't go out Saturday I decided to do 2 separate hunts today. After lunch I went out to the area where I found a barber quarter last weekend. My first find was a Independent Brewing Company '5' Hill Top token. According to research the Hill Top location existed in Mount Oliver PA from 1904-1920 and closed once prohibtion started. The Sanitol Pure Gold Cream cap I'm not sure of the age. I also found 61 cents in clad. Thanks for looking.

Aqua's PA Merchant Tokens book has a round one similar to this listed as Mount Oliver J. Tokencatalog says, "IND. BRG. CO. tokens are attributed to INDEPENDENT BREWING CO. that issued numerous 5 tokens that were used in SW Pennsylvania. Some tokens have IND. BRG.CO. on them, others have IND. BREW. CO. on them." It would be great if you could post yours on tokencatalog. The 5 probably indicates it was good for a 5¢ glass of beer.

Based on my observations, I'm searching areas usually covered in poison ivy. I used to hate winter but now I like it. I wouldn't want to go to these areas in the summer.

That makes me wonder how many token variations there were of each location. Both our Duquesne tokens are circular but slightly different. I'm assuming the circle tokens are more common compared to hexagonal tokens?

Did those bottles have the brewery locations on them? Or did they have a general bottle for all locations?

They didn't have a location like Hill Top, I think they just said Pittsburgh. I'll try to remember to pull a couple out of the boxes tonight and check them.

I dug through some of my many boxes of old bottles and came up with a couple examples of the Independent Brewing Co of Pittsburgh. One has Duquesne on the bottom and the other has IBC for Independent Brewing Co. I know I have many more buried in those boxes. As usual one of the pictures is upside down

Those are nice, I haven't found one yet. You might have collected them all from the city haha Collecting older bottles are my 2nd favorite thing about going out. Thanks for sharing.
