Agate blade pick up.

Scored this agate knife yesterday out of a very respected Minnesota collection yesterday. It’s over 4 1/2 inches long, very thin, and was found here in South Dakota.

It’s definitely not an ultra-thin, but it’s pretty this for its size. The thickest spot isn’t half an inch thick.

Second pic down, at 6 o'clock on the artifact. There is a pick off on a hinged fracture. Pick offs are sure signs that the piece is modern because it takes a metal tool to do a pick off. I'd like to see this piece under a stereo microscope. Just my opinion, for what it's worth. Gary

lol, you are a funny guy! This piece is as good as gold. I have a stereo microscope and don’t even see the need to look.

I've got a lot of agate scrapers, broken points and blades, and the Dakotas are a uniquely "hingey" part of the US. Given the quality of the collection it came out of, and Quito's experience in the area, I don't see any issues with the point.

Stunning Color, Shape and Size! All in one piece! The maker was truly a craftsman and it must have been a helluva tool to hold in the hand and use. Fantastic Find!.....Congrats! (I really like it!)
