Found this thimble the other day along with other pieces dating from the 1860s to today.

Can anyone tell what age the thimble may be?

Also, found the lead piece in the same field. What I can read is "WARD" - any idea on age, or what it was used for?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Lead bars like that were used to solder copper gutters and to seal cast iron drain pipe, Ward might be the name of the manufacturer, or a hardware supplier.

I found a thimble that looks pretty much like yours at a colonial site not to long ago so it's hard to tell.
