Found at old park. Park was named "Mothers Park". Eyes seem to be gold plated. Other finds in area where barbers as well as current clad. So dating is problamatic. Is it possible a scarf clasp? What critter is that? :dontknow:

Lioness? Pit Bull? Panther? With a collar looking thru a porthole? Age of the guy?

It would work for a silk scarf but not a scout's neckerchief. But it does appear to be a scarf slide.

ivan salis · Apr 15, 2011

thinking its a old timey style "bear cub" --cub scout * neck hankerchief slide -- the cub scouts symbol is a bear cub .

I think it would have to be a very small, thin kerchief to work with this small thing. Largest opening is maybe the size of a dime and the 2 others even smaller. So as mentioned earlier a silk scarf yes.

ivan salis · Apr 16, 2011

cub scouts are very young boys = small size

might have been den mother's item or mom of a boy scout silk scarf item or maybe they used silk scarfs back in the day ?

DirtDigler · Apr 16, 2011

As I recall, the rookie or lowest rank Cub Scout was the Bobcat, then the Wolf and finally the Bear. I can see it being a Bobcat kerchief slide. So maybe that's it. I tried to Google it to see if I could find a match, but had no luck. It could be a vintage piece and valuable to collectors.

Tiger Cub. I don't think this is scout related

Maybe a bolo slide?.....just a guess.

Hey Celtex. Nice find

I too think it's a kerchief slide of some sort. Just wanted to mention that you should NEVER post the name or location of your sites :sign13:

Unless of course, you don't mind every detectorist within a 50 mile radius showing up and killing your spot :laughing7:

Take my advice

They would never! :tongue3:

I hear you but the site is inaccessable now as the city is redoing it.
