So I just bought this sword today. The people I bought it from had no clue where it came from or anything about it. Think yall can help me out with what it is, besides a sword.

Under the cross guard it says SCHWAB & WAGNER then right under that it says PRAG. Also the blade is not sharp.

Any and all help I would love!

Wow! You've got a good one there! What it is, is an Austro-Hungarian pre WW1 Railway Officers Dress Sword. It would date roughly 1890-1910 or thereabouts. Value should run between 400-600$ (depending on overall condition which I can't really estimate from the pics. Outstanding find and I'm more than a bit jealous!

edit: I just noticed yours is missing the decorative plaque from the cross guard.... That's really going to hurt the value quite a bit, sadly probably cut those numbers in half..... the guard should look like this : austro-hungarian-railroad-officer-sword.jpg

$200 is going to be about top dollar retail, I don't know if it'll reach that much on e-bay, since collectors will be looking for an intact sword. You may get lucky though and have a couple guys who just have to have one and don't mind the condition issues.

But if I post it on craigslist it won't be hard to get double what I paid?

Sweet. Thank you so much! If I was to sell it online how would I ship something this long? Sorry if I should stop commenting on this because it is solved...
