I find so many almost pieces I just thought others might want to show some of their almost finds. This one would of been a nice Pickwick its made very well and the break is ancient so Im thinking maybe it broke in use. At least thats what I want to think anyway. These are my todays finds, HH rock

Even a broken point can be a good find and at least you are getting out to hunt way to go.:headbang:

Are those creek finds, Rock?

Generally speaking, the broken ones are just as old as the intact ones. They broken ones are made of the same interesting materials as the intact ones, sometimes even better materials. The broken ones often show more evidence of the tools original use than the intact ones do. Have I told y'all lately that broken artifacts need love too?

I agree better than no finds at all but some of them still broke my heart lol

Agreed! I even pick up flakes and consider it a good day...at least I'm in the right spot.

Yea about 75% were from a field I grew up next to and made a few trips out this spring. One of the few left not ruined by no till but has been disced for decades so I'm guessing that's the cause. They all seem like clean breaks Iv never went thru everything to match up brokes I have prob another 300 brokes like the pics from years ago (same 3 fields )

Ive never been able to match 1 up perfectly. When the disc hits it they will break but also shatter one side. I drove by a field today they had disced it twice now cant wait till the winter comes to walk it. Hope they arent planting hay for the cows seeing its so late in the season for planting.

Even though the tip of mine is missing after looking at it close I believe they may have made it into a Spokeshave on the 1 side by the half moon indent so now its a tool not a total loss of history. Its getting hard to find a good one now. I still have 1 place to go to just as soon as the owner takes me to it. Havent been there since the winter so it should be good.

Yea good spots are hard to come by anymore I also can't say in have ever successfully found the other Half of any of mine there's a few of my heartbreakers that I would know immediately even if found years later some of them just stick with you

I tried to go to the place today but the owner wasnt feeling good so didnt go. I had to settle for a uni faced knife in his field. To hot rite now to stay out long anyway.
