I just joined, but have been reading the Superstition Mountains saga for the past several nights, 130 pages and map breaks, wow! I have a Garrett Sea Hunter Mark 2 which I have only used a few times; i was in American Samoa and most of what i dug was trash....lots of it. It is still down there with the rest of my belongings, while my family is here for now. Hopefully i will be heading to Oregon soon as we are buying a place on the coast. When finances allow I will be looking for a gold nugget detector to cruise the old mining districts with.
I grew up with stories of lost mines and prospecting from my dad and uncles, and lived in mining districts; I even helped build a gold processing plant up in Republic, WA in my younger years. This site looks like a fun place to hang out.

When I was 12, I remember an old man coming into the museum and showing a gold nugget he picked up right off the beach in the little town in Oregon I spent the most time in; my grandmother had a subscription to the magazine Arizona Highways, and i read them and loved the photography. We hunted mule deer in eastern Oregon outside of Burns, high desert, basin and range country. I have found little treasure myself, but just being out in the wonder of creation is treasure enough.
