Don't you just love it when your teller says "You may like this!" ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1499299848.066388.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1499299869.099866.webp

I was at a bank the other day and asked for IKES and the teller (a girl) reached under her desk and was struggling and up pulls this box of 180 IKES. In awe I looked through it and there was nothing but some beat up old IKES. She then went on to tell me the other day someone else looked through it and pulled out 10 40% IKES. Ten of them! argh! I made sure they weren't morgans or peace dollars though lol

Just like FormerTeller said, Always buy them all unless you don't have the funds. Then buy as many as you can. Even if there is nothing of value there (don't forget to check for errors!), simply take them off their hands and dump them elsewhere. It will help build that relationship so that next time, that teller may put aside the goodies just for you since you have done them the favor of taking them previously. You just never know what that little gesture of buying them will net you in the future.

Oh. I took all of them, $25 bucks worth of them but she had pulled this one aside. So it's 40%? I thought it was 90. This bank I've been going to is a dump spot for ( I think) 2 other searchers. A box of pennies and a box of nickels I bought the other day had "searched" written in sharpie on the box.

I scored $800 in Ike's yesterday. Hoping to find at least one silver.

I find too many ikes lol and only one 40% and one peace dollar.

My coin shop sells all Ikes for $1.25 a piece. I should ask next time I'm in there, but I bet they'd buy at $1.10!

If you can't sell them for a profit then at least try and make some cash purchases with them on the chance that they will circulate long enough to become lost and found by some lucky detectorist.

I refuse to sell them to my LCS. They are only worth $1, unless they are an exception. I have about 3 or 4 people that collect them for their kids, l am more then happy to sell them for face. Why should my LCS get more for them, especially since I can't stand dealing with him!

When I find some I usually take them to my banks since a few tellers like them for themselves or family.. im hoping this will be reciprocated soon with some goodies....

I remember walking through the casinos in Vegas as a kid, (Parents dragging me through) All of the Dollar Slots and table games used Ikes. My uncles would bring them home from vegas and if I brought them enough beers, I would end up with 1 or 2! I still have em

So far I've only edge searched $400 of them. Haven't seen any silver rims yet. I'll check out the rest tonight. Anything else besides silver to look for?

keep in mind that some "searchers" can't find a deleted email without appointing a "special prosecutor" :zoom: :-\::):sad10: :icon_biggrin: :sad5:

I've trained my tellers to ask me "do youze be wantin' these"
someday it may be a sack of double eagles :dontknow: :laughing9:

The1972 Type II Ike is worth a pretty penny...

I can guarantee you that one 40% Ike and one peace dollar is a whole lot more silver than most of us have found searching large dollars.

I'll take a look Diver_Down. Thanks

I buy all I can find from the tellers and use them as tips. Have had garage sales and put a small pile out with a price of $1.50 or $2.00 and normally sell some to the ladies that want them as tooth fairy money or christmas stocking cash. If they sell, fine, if not I give them away to the wait staff as tips.
