This guy finds some nice Amos points on the Ohio River but he keeps saying they are 10,000 years old in fact they are not that old they a middle archaic point 6300 to 7300 years old! I don't know why he is claiming they are that old lol!

Any pics ? Iv met a few people while out hunting and heard some crazy things ..... by far the craziest was from a guy hunting the same shoreline as me he had found a nice oval shaped knife/ blade that was no older than late archaic but to him due to the oval shape it meant it was pre Paleo and solutrean .... yeah I just told him nice find and kept walking not worth the time to argue with him when I could be hunting

I am not familiar with Amos points.

What are the characteristics of the
Amos point?

Can you describe the
Amos point in detail please.

The two serrated Points right above the center Stemmed Point are Amos Points. In Ohio we call them Palmers, but in Virginia, NC and SC they are called Amos Points.

Amos Projectile Point

Just for comparison, these are Palmer Points that I personally found. All three found the same day in the same field. This field gave up a bunch of these types.

The Bettye Broyles "Amos" type site reports from WV included the Charleston, Palmer & Kirk corner notched types in the excavated sequence, and in that order from earliest to latest, if I remember correctly. The Amos points were placed at the earlier end of the early archaic, and saying they date to 8000 BC or 10,000 YBP would not be far from current accepted thought. We have what appear to be Amos points here on the Delmarva, and most local collectors/researchers seem to consider them to be 9000-10000 YBP.
