hello all,

i recently created a new email address specifically for eBay transactions so i could better organize my inbox. after doing so, eBay recommended that i also change my PayPal email to avoid confusion. saw no reason not to, so i went ahead and changed my PayPal email to the same address as the new eBay account. a few hours later, a buyer springs for one of my pricier BIN items, repeatedly tries to buy, and gets notification that i am "unable to receive payments." i scrambled through all of eBay and PayPal's settings with no luck, and Google doesn't offer any exact solution to my problem. hours later, in sheer frustration, i start to revise my listing line by line and discover that the PayPal email used to accept transactions is still set to my old one. i had to manually update this address through listing revisions all night, but this eventually solved the problem. what a headache. thankfully, i was able to close the deal with the Buy It Now item, but had that buyer not been motivated enough to contact me, people could have been blocked from purchasing my Buy It Now items indefinitely.

at the end of the day, i believe the problem came from the fact that my listings had all been posted 2-3 days prior to the account change. so the information on these listings was not updated. had they been relisted, i believe this would have been fixed. still, a week of $1000+ in inventory not being able to move without your consent or knowledge = not good.

just wanted to put this information out there. if someone informs you your account is "not currently accepting payments," it is most likely an incorrect PayPal email within the listing.

anyone else have to deal with this?

I'm guessing you are not new to ebay so am surprised you expected a changed PP email would somehow revise the email you entered on your listings to accept payments. I do know what it's like to sit down and revise a lot of listings... maybe 50 or so for me from making one dumb mistake and then it happening over and over from using the sell similar option.

E-bay done this to me the other day when they changed there format They changed my payment address to a old one that had been closed 7 years ago because I had not used that address in so long,,,Had to delete all my for sale items that had no bid,,I had started reviseing the address like this op did,but then I called them thinking they could change it back since they did it.And the lady told me that me reviseing it the way I was would not work,do not know if that is true or not.But she had me close all of the ones which did not have a bid and redo them,,so watch the next one that sells and make sure you get your money. The ones that had a bid I could not close but when it closed I called pay-pal and they handled it in less then a minute. They know about this problem.

I have a problem with paypal and ebay myself. It's nothing major but it is a p.i.t.a. at times. I have 2 paypal accounts, each with a different email. The first account is my main one. Its the one I originally signed up with on ebay. The second account that I added 4 or 5 years ago, is my account for micro payments. Every time I print my shipping labels via ebay, the funds come out of the newer (micro) account, even though it's not my "main" account. This wouldn't be a problem except that the micro account barely gets used because I don't typically sell low dollar items ($15 or less) so all my monies go into my main account. In short every time I have to print shipping labels I have to transfer funds from one account to the other to avoid having money drawn out of my bank account. I've been on the phone for literally hours on end with both paypal and ebay to try and fix this to no avail.

To me that sounds like going across town to the other grocery store because laundry soap is a dollar cheaper.... and doing it through rush hour traffic! :laughing7:

My Two cents - Select all listings. Then Bulk edit. Then Payment. Then Pay to address. Roughly 3 minutes per 500 listings. I realize it is too late now for you - but in case others come across this through google. Best of luck.
