I give up. I tried finding this exact pattern on Waterbury's site. I looked in military/anchors
and fashion/anchors and I just can't find an exact match. It's about half an inch in diameter.

2015 (581).webp2015 (580).webp

I can find close but not exact. The one aspect that keeps me from matching is the
ring at the top of the anchor is laying down. I'm certain it's new but I've been wrong before.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I don't know that it is military. It may be a uniform button from a cruise ship or something like that. You could probably contact Waterbury for more information.

I actually live in the Waterbury area and there are hordes of these things everywhere. There is even a store where your kid can grab a handful for a buck.

In my opinion, it was made for a British Merchant Navy uniform... which is why the Waterbury Companies took the unusual step of including "USA" in that button's backmark.

Do a search for 20th-century British Merchant Navy buttons and you'll see that exact symbol. Or, go here,
Navy buttons
and scroll halfway down the webpage (and a bit further). You'll several examples of that emblem on buttons classified as "Britain's Merchant Navy Generic Design Issue In use 1900 's onwards".
