I found the ring very deep at the old high school site. It read in the gold range on the mine lab pro and later read in the gold range on the old teknetics 8000. it feels heavy 4GR. it's not magnetic and came out a silver/white gold color when cleaned and has no markings on the inside. Thanks for looking!

No clue on the ring but nice Rosie,Thanx for sharing!!!

HH John

I can't see the whole ring, but is that a roman numeral it's trying to make?

In any case, nice find!

HH!

Hi History Hunter, Ring looks very old. Handmade. Hard to tell from when exactly because Rings with Roman Symbols and Letters have been made for a very long time. Potential is huge though. Could be Roman, could be handmade middle age. Saw similar rings from 300 bc to 1700 ac so i guess i cant help you with this one.
Congrats on that Find...its a good one. ..especially if its really gold.

Thanks for the replies, the ring has two Xs on each side of the three lines.

nice finds congrats the ring looks like bronze to me HH

Very nice:thumbsup: congrats:icon_thumright:

I finally got a test kit and scratched the stone with the ring and added the 22K acid. it did not dissolve the line at all, so according to the test kit, the ring is 22K or higher! I wonder how old it really is?

Recon someone took a nugget and hammered it out to make the ring?great finds for sure.

Awesome finds, look forward to hearing more about this ring!!
Seems to be very old, can't wait to see what all you find out about it.
Keep us posted, please!!
Thanks for sharing!!!!

Higher carat gold , from my experience as a metalsmith/jeweler , does not attract oxides like your ring appears to display - the color
does not appear to be 22K or higher to me - I would think more like 9K -14 k based on what I see here . I can't explain why your
test results would suggest otherwise .
